MIDLAND GLOSTER FANCY CANARY ASSOCIATION
A recent call from Sam and Susan Guy of the Midland Gloster Fancy Canary Association (MGFCA) left us a little shell shocked when Sam said that for many and varied reasons they had taken the reluctant decision to terminate the MGFCA.
All was not bad news as in the same breath Sam was offering the WMGA their show date, one week earlier on the first Sunday in November this year being the 7th November.
From one perspective the timing of the conversation could not have been more opportune as this year’s show calendar would see the WMGA event clashing with the North of England and it continuing to do so for the next couple of years, giving both clubs the headache of attracting exhibitors who attend both events.
A quick Zoom of available WMGA members came to the conclusion that the response to Sam should be Yes we accept the offer, but there had to be conditions attached which WMGA believed were positive for the MGFCA.

The MGFCA still had to have a presence in the Gloster show calendar, its name and its rich history must not be lost.

Trophies, some dating back to 1953, must be perpetuated by being available for competition.

Sam and Susan to become active members of WMGA incorporating Midland Gloster Fancy Canary Association.
Further conversation with Sam confirmed everything was acceptable to both associations and we should move forward with the MGFCA identified as being incorporated within the WMGA.
So Gloster Breeders and Exhibitors there is a change of Event detail for the West Midland All Gloster Show incorporating the Midland Gloster Fancy Canary Association as follows:

Awards now include Historic Trophies for competition including “The Ivor Alberry Bowl," for Best in Show and the "CM PeckhamTrophy" first awarded in 1950.
