West Midland Gloster Association -15th November 2020 Gloster Exhibition.

We have made every effort to organise a Covid-19 Safe Gloster Canary Exhibition.

We have contacted, DEFRA /APHA / Government Ministers / Worcester Environmental Health and our Venue and are following daily Government updates to understand the Do and Don’t Regulations in place at any given time.

Right now (October 2020) we know:

  1. DEFRA / APHA / Worcestershire Environmental Health Authority have agreed and recorded the fact that:

    1.  The show can go ahead providing we adhere to and comply with the Government Covid-19 health and social distancing regulations and our own conditions set out below.

    2.  Adhere to the APHA General Licence requirements to hold an exhibition.

  2. APHA / WEHA have registered the WMGA event as a 2020 active event. Covid Safe in a Covid Secure venue.

  3. The exhibition venue, Fairfield Community Hall, Stourbridge Rd, Fairfield, Bromsgrove B61 9LZ have advised us that the event can go ahead but WMGA and its attendees must, without exception, adhere to special terms and conditions.

This communication should be read and understood by all entrants, which are “ Special Covid -19 Conditions” supplemental to our normal T&C’s.

  • Do not attend if you feel sick or display C19 symptoms in the 7 days prior to the event – your entry fee will be returned.

  • If sick after the event you will notify the WMGA General Secretary and isolate for the mandatory period thereafter.

  • Track and trace post code information will be gathered on the day.

  • Masks / Visors need to be worn at all times within the hall - no exceptions.

  • Gloves will be provided and must be worn at all times - no exceptions

  • Hand sanitizing gel / soap and hand towels will be placed around the hall - exhibitors will be required to use these when and where appropriate (e.g. toilets & if gloves removed for any other reason).

  • Social distancing rules in force at the time will apply. Currently minimum 1mtr + with additional PPE.

  • A venue owner requirement is for a maximum of 30 people to be in the Hall at any one-time and the rule of 6 to be applied.

    • WMGA have considered how this can be achieved and believe with the help and good will of the attendees it is possible. A bit of give and take will ensure  a successful event.

    • The event has been broken down into sections – Set up – Booking in – Judging – Exhibition Entry – Awards – Checking out and Breakdown.

  • Booking In procedure

    • Register your arrival return to vehicle and await a steward call to book in.

    • After booking birds in exhibitors will exit the hall – no exceptions.

    • Entry will be through the main door - exit through the side fire-door.

    • T/C / Refresh will be available.

  • Judging procedure

    • Three judges engaged: - Neil Burton, Paul Reay, Dave Hobart.

    • 3 stewards and a senior steward allocated per judge.

    • Show and Assistant Manager plus Head Steward

    • Judging will take place with viewing restricted to the hall capacity at any one-time. This will ensure we can achieve a maximum 30 in the hall and complete judging on time.

  • Exhibition Entry / Booking Out procedure

    • There will be entry times set to ensure that there are only 30 people in the hall at any one time and everyone has equal time in the exhibition.

    • There will be a one-way system in place which it is hoped will minimise “crushes”. It is recognised that there will be times when it is not possible to keep a social distance from another, but self-policing must keep this to a minimum. IF you are asked by a steward to part or move on he will just be trying to ensure that the event adheres to the venue T&C’s, we ask for your understanding.

    • Awards will be given out during the event rather than everyone standing cheek to jowl unless the exhibitor or WMGA staff are able to provide compliant PPE.

    • Booking out – the old system of 1-2-1 Steward / Exhibitor collecting birds and checking them out will be in force. Attendees will be asked to vacate the venue go to their cars and will be called forward to collect their entries.

WMGA recognise that this may seem very restrictive compared to prior years BUT we hope that everyone recognises we are in different times when the name of the game is “SAFETY FIRST”. We have undertaken a risk assessment of every aspect of the show and believe we have put into place everything possible to make WMGA 2020 a Covid19 Safe Event.

Official feedback has been “we cannot see what more you can do....good luck”.

So we sincerely hope that having got this far you agree and can see your way to exhibiting, “if you can, great see you in November” and “if not we completely understand and hope to see you in 2021 under the judging eye of Marnix D’Hont and Ludo Lenears (Belgium).

As a final comment we recognise that there may be a good take up this year so are placing a limit on numbers of people / exhibits attending ; once 550 birds have been entered the event will close so GET YOUR ENTRIES In to “Harri” Harrison to Book your Spot.
